There are so many options to consider when planning the Class Reunion five, ten, twenty, or even forty years after the graduation date. For instance, what themes can be used that incorporate your school spirit? Is there specific mascots that would make great themes or places to start with decorations? For example, if you were the Bengals – how about a Jungle Safari? Alternately if you were the Eagles, you could incorporate “soaring high above the clouds...” and look to the sky for themes like space, kites, stars, etc. If nothing like that seems to click for you, consider some of the tried and true reunion themes: Graduation Year Trivia including Movies, Music, and Television; “Where are they now?” That spotlights individually the class members and their accomplishments; and, “Who would have thought?” Which compares what people really thought class members would do in comparison or contrast to what they really did end up doing.
Class reunions are mainly a time for touching base with old friends, reliving memories, and catching up with those we haven’t seen. Consider putting together a slide show that takes old pictures and intersperses new ones of class members and their today families. Don’t forget to put in a lot of anecdotes about coaches, teachers and even school administration as well as each of the students and perhaps their most memorable (if not most embarrassing) moments at the old alma matter.
Finally, prepare to set up a buffet dinner with a nice assortment of finger foods and have music played that came straight from the time period the class members were in school. Of course some modern music can be mixed in, but there should be plenty of memory invoking tunes as well as the old school fight song mixed in to get everyone all fired up as they prepare to dance the night away!
