Pre-Schoolers Birthday Parties (4-5)
By the time you start having preschooler’s birthday parties, your four or five year old will have all ready become a man or woman of the world, so to speak. They know their own name, age and the day they were born. They will be learning the alphabet, counting numbers and days of the week. And they will have some playmates from preschool that can be invited to help celebrate their birthday party.

Keeping kids entertained at a preschooler’s birthday party is rather simple, in fact all you really need to do is put them together with some toys and they take over from there. Though if you want to introduce them to some birthday games, start with simple ones that are easy to understand and preferably where everyone is the winner. One really easy one it the tossing game and you can modify it to fit any party theme. You simply line up a vertical row of buckets or other containers and have the kids take turns tossing a ball into the buckets. They stand at the bottom of the row and have the option of easily dropping their ball into a bucket almost right in front of them or trying to toss the ball into a bucket further away. The further away the bucket the bigger the prize for getting the ball into it. For a kid’s Safari Party you can use upturned Safari Hats.

When you have a preschooler’s party decorations should be fun, colorful and easy to put up. Many sites have decorations for kid’s parties with themes relating to favored kids television shows or characters. You can purchase a party kit featuring Rollie Polie Olie or Dora the Explorer. Birthday kits may be the easiest way to go, because they usually feature a tablecloth, a couple expandable centerpieces, and streamers. Other kits may focus more on the silverware, giving paper cups, plates and napkins. Usually though you will have to buy your balloons separately.

Food at the party should be kid’s food and of course cake. Don’t go through with the bother of ordering a special cake from the bakery unless you are intending to invite a lot of adults who will appreciate it. Sharpen your culinary skills a little and just make a cake from a store bought mix for the kids. All that really matters to them is that it’s got their favorite flavor and that there’s frosting.
